Frequently Asked Questions

  What is an exercise physiologist?
An exercise physiologist is a health professional who holds a degree in an exercise related field such as, exercise science, sports medicine, or kinesiology. As a degreed professional, it means that the person has studied subjects such as human anatomy, physiology, nutrition, kinesiology, biomechanics (study of human movement), exercise physiology, motor learning (nervous & muscular system together), etc. for at least 4 years at an accredited university. Because of an exercise physiologist’s education, they are qualified to assess, design programs and work with people with specific health issues such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, lower back pain, etc.

Is an exercise physiologist the same as a physical therapist?
No. A physical therapist assesses and rehabilitates injuries. After a patient has recovered from their injury through working with a physical therapist, the exercise physiologist takes over to design an exercise program to create a healthier lifestyle overall!

Will you help me lose weight fast?
Keep in mind, fast weight loss is unhealthy & unsustainable weight loss. How long did it take to put the weight on? Of course this doesn’t mean it’s going to take as long to take it off, but the KEY to healthy & sustainable weight loss depends on your commitment and consistency to your exercise, eating healthier foods and portions, healthy stress management and emotional awareness. The more consistent and committed you are to your SELF and your overall health & well-being, the “faster” the weight will come off. However, if done in a healthy lasting way, no more than 2 pounds a week should be expected.

I have a specific health issue… are you qualified to provide me with a safe program?
Yes. We are educated and experienced in working with specific health issues. We work hand-in-hand with doctors, dietitians, physical therapists and other health professionals to provide you with the BEST and safest program no matter what your health concerns are.

Do I have to be a member of the Loews to work with you?
No. However, it is recommended because as a member (it’s a month to month membership) you receive discounts on personal training packages and programs, spa & salon services and have access to all membership exercise classes, the steam & sauna and the pool for swimming.

How much is it going to cost?
It all depends on what training package or program works for you. Personal training sessions range from $45 (30 minutes) to $90 (60 minutes) and are discounted depending on how many sessions you buy in a package as well as if you are a Loews member. Program costs also vary.
