Director of Client Relations

As director of client relations at State of the Heart Fitness, Gigi serves as our liaison in developing and maintaining relationships with all new and potential clients. Through personal training and the classes she teaches, her passion for everyday wellness motivates and inspires our clients to achieve their goals and live life to the fullest.

Gigi joined State of the Heart Fitness in July 2004 after making a life-changing decision to switch from her corporate executive job in the title insurance industry to health and fitness. This was after many years of being active in the health & fitness community, including teaching classes in step aerobics and spinning. Gigi is an avid cyclist, runner and yoga practitioner and her love of cycling led her to participate in the AIDS Ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 2001. She also regularly participates in local 10k’s (often placing in the top 3 of her age group), bike rides and she competed in her first triathlon in September of 2011, once again placing 3rd in her division.

In regards to her work at State of the Heart Fitness, Gigi says: I love my work for many reasons. It’s very rewarding to watch someone have an “a-ha” moment about feeling their bodies and contributing to a client’s awareness that they can achieve something they didn’t know they could. In addition, I love showing the fun in exercise and helping clients develop healthy habits as well as realistic & achievable goals. My favorite part is stretching my clients after a workout. It gives me great satisfaction to see them enjoy this part of a session and to feel their bodies relax.

In regards to why Gigi loves working for State of the Heart Fitness: I love the team spirit. We all communicate and share information so our clients get the best we can give them… as a team. I also love that it is a place where we can focus on balance in our own lives. We are allowed to find what our strengths are and then are given opportunities to utilize them for the growth of our business.

Gigi is originally from the Netherlands (Holland), and moved to the U.S. in 1964. She attended Long Beach State University where she studied Biology. In 2004 she continued her studies of anatomy, physiology and sports nutrition in the UCLA extension fitness program.
