As one of the original founders & owner of State of the Heart Fitness, Lisa brings a deep understanding of exercise physiology and lifestyle coaching with 20+ years of experience in designing exercise/wellness programs for people of varying health concerns and fitness levels. Lisa’s philosophy and integration of all aspects of wellness – physical, mental, emotional & spiritual – is based on her education, years of working with people, as well as her own personal experience with her own health.

As President of State of the Heart Fitness, she ensures all clients and employees are well educated on the foundational elements of wellness, as well as providing the highest level of professionalism and quality of all programs & services. She is co-author of State of the Heart Fitness’ “Way to Wellness” journal and is also an enthusiastic public speaker.

Prior to co-founding State of the Heart Fitness in 2001, Lisa worked for 7 years as an Exercise Physiologist at the world-renowned Pritikin Longevity Center® in Santa Monica, where she built a thorough background working with individuals with diabetes, heart disease, obesity and orthopedic issues. Working with Pritikin participants on a daily basis allowed her the unique and deeply rewarding opportunity to provide them with the proper knowledge, guidance and coaching in making positive, uplifting and lasting lifestyle choices.

Before joining Pritikin, Lisa worked as a physiologist for Centinela Hospital’s Fitness Institute in Culver City, CA (1993-94), where she performed fitness testing and assessments on several of LA’s professional sports teams, such as the Lakers, Dodgers, and Kings.

Lisa’s passion is touching people’s hearts in a positive way, every single day. As part of fulfilling her deep desire to help younger people discover the value of health and to establish healthy habits for the rest of their lives, Lisa served as an adjunct faculty member and taught a required course called, “Health & Lifestyles” at her alma mater, Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA (2002-03).

She has been a writer since the age of 12 and has just recently released her first official book called, Michael Jackson: the Man In Our Mirror, A Reflection of Our Collective Soul currently sold on Amazon, Barnes n’ Noble and her website:

This will be followed by a second book she has been writing for more than 10 years called, The Ride of My Life – a personal memoir of life lessons learned from her horse of 34 years, Little Miss. Though Miss is 35 years old, she still is in good health and continues to inspire all who know and love her! You can experience Lisa’s writing through her BLOG & newsletters.

Another passion for Lisa is travel.  She has traveled throughout Europe, SE Asia, Australia, Central & South America and in 2010, she, along with Gigi, took a group of State of the Heart Fitness clients to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru!  In the years to come, Lisa looks to provide more active, adventurous “body, mind, spirit” type trips throughout the world so stay tuned!

Lisa loves reading, music of all kinds, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends including, of course, her horse, Little Miss!
